Weekend Anchor/Reporter

About the Role

Ozarks First in Springfield, Missouri, is seeking a weekend News Anchor/Multimedia Journalist who will serve as a newsroom leader and primary presenter of news stories. The candidate will deliver clear, engaging, and meaningful content for our newscasts, website, and CTV App.

Responsibilities

• Presents news stories and other content for linear, digital, CTV App, and social platforms.
• Writes and produces content for linear, digital, CTV App, and social platforms.
• Ensures all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Writes and delivers news stories clearly and concisely.
• Acts as a strong writer, copy editor, and researcher.
• Serves as a field reporter or field anchor as assigned.
• Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations.
• Participates in promotional activities, including public appearances.
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Edits video clips as needed.
• Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Minimum three years’ experience in news reporting or anchoring.
• Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to ad lib when required.
• Superior on-air presence and excellent news judgment.
• Expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers, and issues.
• Experience guiding, directing, and motivating others.
• Ability to identify developmental needs and coach or mentor others to improve their skills.
• Proficiency with newsroom technology, including computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong listening skills to fully understand problems and collaborate with a team to shape solutions.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
