About the role
Louisiana First News is seeking a dynamic and dedicated journalist to join our team as a Reporter/Weekend Anchor. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a storyteller who excels in the field, thrives on breaking news, and aims to make a significant impact on the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Report, write, shoot, and edit compelling stories for television, digital, and social media platforms.
- Anchore weekend newscasts with professionalism, accuracy, and strong newsroom judgment.
- Deliver clear, engaging live reports during breaking news and severe weather coverage.
- Develop original enterprise and investigative story ideas that matter to our communities.
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, public officials, and local sources.
- Produce content for broadcast, website, and social media platforms.
- Collaborate with producers, photographers, digital teams, and newsroom leadership to deliver high-quality journalism.
- Represent Louisiana First News with professionalism both on air and within the community.
- Maintain a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as news coverage requires.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Previous reporting experience required; anchoring experience preferred.
- Strong live reporting and storytelling skills.
- Excellent writing, editing, and conversational on-air delivery.
- Able to work under deadline pressure while maintaining accuracy.
- Experience using newsroom editing systems, cameras, and social media platforms.
- Experience with digital and social media platforms.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
