About the role

Newscast Producers work closely with assignment editors, reporters, and anchors to produce, write, edit, and gather content for all WCAU platforms. Producers are responsible for the overall newscast and coverage of assigned stories across all platforms throughout the day.

Responsibilities

  • Stay knowledgeable about daily local news events, current events, and the Philadelphia market.
  • Serve as a key communicator in the newsroom, collaborating with managers, the digital team, and the assignment desk to write and deliver fair, accurate, and updated news scripts.
  • Contribute story ideas, participate in daily coverage decisions, and lead during editorial meetings.
  • Line-produce newscasts and align content with the station's top pillars and priorities.
  • Utilize the latest graphic tools to visually enhance and showcase stories.
  • Edit video clips and produce under heavy deadlines in a fast-paced environment without compromising credibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in newsgathering and/or production in a mid-to-major market.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience writing, producing, and using desktop editing systems in a mid-to-major market.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Willingness to join AFTRA and SAG-AFTRA unions, as this position may be covered by collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience line-producing newscasts and editing content on desktop editing systems.
  • Ability to make priority decisions under deadlines and deliver developing news across all platforms.
  • Team player mentality.

Schedule

This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
