Responsibilities

  • Lift, carry, and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
  • Dig, spread, and level dirt, sand, and gravel using picks, shovels, or rakes.
  • Assist equipment operators in positioning machines, verifying grades, and signaling operators to maintain grades as directed.
  • Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
  • Direct common laborers in pouring concrete.
  • Erect shoring and bracing.
  • Assist in pipe installation.
  • Use power tools and air tools.
  • Install and maintain erosion control.
  • Assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor when not performing essential duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to move throughout a construction jobsite, including navigating minor obstacles, climbing ladders and inclines, operating heavy equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Compliance with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership through example and knowledge-sharing.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the company’s safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education: Less than a high school diploma.
  • Experience: Three or more years of related construction experience preferred.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Physical Activity Level: Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day-to-day tasks of a primarily productive/technical nature.

Manual Dexterity: Sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers; ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.

Working Conditions: Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.).

Work Environment: Regular exposure to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, and loud noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
