Responsibilities

  • Assist Foreman and skilled craft workers under close supervision, typically as an entry-level position to learn a skill.
  • Dig, spread, and level dirt, sand, and gravel using a pick, shovel, or rake.
  • Lift, carry, and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
  • Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
  • Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe.
  • Perform routine non-machine tasks such as removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trenches, and assembling pipe sections.
  • Perform machine tasks such as tapping soil, jackhammering, and assisting in the fusing of pipe.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe activities to supervisors and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership through example and sharing knowledge/skills.
  • Drive as required for the role.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position involves work at and around the Jacksonville airport. Candidates must successfully complete and pass a background check for security clearance and maintain a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Requirements

  • Less than a high school diploma.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions

  • Outdoors, exposed to changing weather conditions (e.g., rain, sun, snow, wind).
  • Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day-to-day tasks of a primarily productive/technical nature.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
