About the Role

Operate a truck and drive to projects throughout Houston to repair, service, and maintain heavy construction equipment in the field. This role involves basic repair knowledge and troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic, powertrain, and engine components.

Responsibilities

• Operate a truck and drive to project sites to perform maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, track hoes, and related heavy highway construction equipment.
• Perform skilled duties such as inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of heavy construction equipment and heavy trucks.
• Weld equipment for repairs.
• Operate cranes for maintenance and repair work.
• Read, understand, and complete service-related documents and paperwork in a timely manner.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to ensure timely maintenance activities.
• Maintain a clean work vehicle and work area to uphold a safe environment.
• Apply knowledge of the construction industry, including operating and repairing heavy equipment.
• Read and interpret specifications and manuals.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
• Safely use hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices.
• Communicate effectively with vendors, supervisors, and equipment operators.
• Demonstrate a high level of safety consciousness and equipment safety awareness.
• Perform other unlisted duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Five (5) or more years of experience as a heavy equipment/diesel mechanic, preferably in the field.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to seventy (70) pounds; climb, kneel, twist, and bend in various environments.
• Possess and maintain your own hand tools.
• Capability to perform strenuous, hands-on activities.
• Manual dexterity sufficient for tool use and fine motor tasks.
• Proficiency in English for verbal and written communications.
• Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, and construction math concepts (e.g., calculating rate, ratio, and percent).
• Valid driver’s license for occasional required travel.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Capability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, dealing with abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to navigate minor obstacles at construction sites on foot.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions (e.g., rain, sun, snow, wind).
