About the role

This fully remote position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of internal tools and workflow applications that enhance operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with AI and Cloud Engineering teams to translate modernization and automation initiatives into intuitive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in web development, with a portfolio showcasing production-ready interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain front-end applications for internal tools and workflow platforms, ensuring usability and performance.
  • Collaborate with AI and Cloud Engineering teams to translate modernization and automation efforts into user-facing interfaces.
  • Refactor and modernize legacy codebases to adopt current best practices and architectures.
  • Implement responsive, accessible, and cross-browser compatible UI components using modern CSS and JavaScript frameworks.
  • Integrate front-end components with backend services through REST APIs, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Translate design mockups into functional code using UX/UI tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.
  • Maintain version control using Git and contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal accessibility standards, including Section 508 requirements.
  • Stay updated with emerging front-end technologies, tools, and best practices to continuously improve development processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 3 years with a Master’s degree; no experience required with a PhD.
  • U.S. Citizenship and Public Trust eligibility.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining production-grade React applications.
  • Experience refactoring legacy codebases into modern architectures.
  • Basic proficiency in Python for backend integration and scripting.
  • Strong skills in CSS3, including responsive design using Flexbox and Grid, with cross-browser compatibility.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.
  • Experience managing environment configurations using Makefile, Docker, Node.js, npm, Webpack, and Vite.
  • Practical understanding of Section 508 accessibility requirements and federal web standards.
  • Portfolio demonstrating experience in developing production interfaces as a Web Developer or UI/UX Designer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with testing frameworks (Playwright, Puppeteer, Jest).
  • Familiarity with UX/UI design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • REST API integration and front-end testing.
  • Version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • AWS-hosted deployments.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Managing state with Redux or Context API.
  • Familiarity with federal design systems like USWDS.
  • Experience with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js).
  • Government or public-sector digital services experience.
