About the role
The UX/UI Developer assists the Web Services team in the development and continuous improvement of the public-facing www.suu.edu website, with a focus on creating intuitive, accessible, and visually cohesive user experiences. This role bridges the gap between design and development by applying user-experience principles to day-to-day web development, front-end programming, and site maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the day-to-day maintenance of the www.suu.edu website.
- Conducts light user research and monitors behavior tracking to improve website navigation.
- Acts as a bridge between campus designers and web developers to translate designs into accessible and usable web components.
- Collaborates with the Web Services team and university departments to build and improve web experiences.
- Engages in personal development and skill building.
- Reviews the main SUU website for accuracy of content.
- Identifies areas of potential user struggle and makes recommendations to improve.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of recent web development/programming experience.
- Strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
- Strong understanding of Section 508/ADA Accessibility compliance and remediation.
- Ability to use and adapt to a wide range of development tools/languages.
- Ability to work cordially with other university personnel.
- Ability to meet deadlines and negotiate timelines and service-level agreements.
- Ability to work on concurrent projects and effectively prioritize tasks.
- Ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and assess their potential benefit to SUU.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, User Experience, or a related field (imminent completion considered).
- Experience analyzing web analytics reports and interpreting findings to improve user interfaces.
- Experience with common web development tools, including content management systems, analytics platforms, and versioning software.
- Knowledge of or experience with Cascade CMS and Siteimprove Web Governance Suite.
Pay
$70,000 – $75,000 annually
Supplemental Information
This position is contingent on funding. Due to recent changes in H1B visa fees, Southern Utah University is no longer able to sponsor international faculty and staff requiring an H1B visa who are currently living outside the United States.
