About the role

The Enrollment Management Office at Penn State is seeking a Web Content and Editorial Specialist to support the development and execution of marketing and communications initiatives that advance the goals, programs, and services of the campus, academic, or administrative unit. This role serves as the primary owner of day-to-day web content and email design within all divisions of Enrollment Management, employing a variety of marketing, communications, and web strategies, including digital marketing and content development. Responsibilities include coordinating the production of digital marketing collateral, supporting campaign execution, monitoring performance analytics, and ensuring that communications align with organizational branding, accessibility standards, and strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, current, and user-focused content that follows best practices
  • Support ongoing digital content improvements and optimization
  • Work within established governance and workflow processes
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for content-related needs
  • Use the content management system (CMS) and available content types
  • Adhere to established intake and approval processes
  • Document and communicate requested changes effectively
  • Write clear, concise, and structured content for web and CRM users
  • Understand enrollment goals and key user audiences
  • Regularly review and maintain Enrollment Management content areas
  • Plan for page building using content and content types in a way that supports the intended audience and goal
  • Manage assets, links, and metadata consistently in the CMS

Requirements

  • Follow accessibility guidelines including reviewing compatibility with screen readers and assistive technologies; auditing both new and existing content for accessibility compliance; and structuring content for readability (headings, skimmability, content type selection)
  • Follow and edit according to Penn State Brand Guidelines including applying brand voice and editorial standards consistently; writing in a clear, concise, and student-focused way; and writing effective headings, body copy, and metadata to support modern discovery channels, including search engines and AI platforms
  • Ensure content is accurate, current, and relevant including addressing updates in a timely manner and participating in content audits, reviews, or planning efforts as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
  • No required certifications

Background Checks/Clearances

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Pay

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $65,508.00 – $94,980.00.
