About the role
The Weatherization Technician performs duties related to the rehabilitation and weatherization of customers' homes, including preparation and completion of home improvement and weatherization services.
Responsibilities
- Report to and assist the assigned Foreman.
- Load and unload department vehicles.
- Maintain and inventory equipment, tools, and materials.
- Develop and apply skills in home improvement, rehabilitation, weatherization, and energy-saving techniques.
- Safely operate tools and equipment required for the job.
- Ensure satisfactory completion of assigned work.
- Attend and participate in work-related training and seminars as directed.
- Comply with Partners policies, State, and Local Program guidelines.
- Assist in preparation and completion of home repair, improvement, and weatherization tasks (e.g., measuring and clean-up).
- Respect customers' property and maintain confidentiality of their personal information.
- Foster positive relationships with peers and supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Willingness to learn the operation of blower doors, pressure diagnostic tools, carbon monoxide analyzers, furnace analyzers, and other job-related equipment.
- Knowledge of home improvement, carpentry, and/or weatherization/insulation techniques.
- Ability to read and decipher work orders and perform basic math related to construction and material estimation.
- Ability to interact well with diverse personalities.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks in extreme weather conditions and confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces).
- Ability to use ladders and work at heights up to four stories.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license, auto insurance, and a good driving record.
