Weather Intern
About the role
We are looking for quarter or semester weather interns for our News Department. This is an unpaid educational internship designed for students interested in broadcast meteorology, weather forecasting, or weather production.
Requirements
- Must be attending an accredited college or university and studying meteorology, atmospheric science, mass communications, or a related major
- Must work 10–20 hours per week, including some weekends
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must receive academic credit for the internship experience
- Must be registered for college at his or her institution during the quarter or semester in which the internship is performed
- Must have reliable transportation
Qualifications
No prior newsroom experience is required—just a strong interest in weather and a willingness to learn.
Skills
Hands-on experience in a professional newsroom, interaction with meteorologists and newsroom professionals, exposure to the daily weather process, from forecast preparation and weather meetings to how weather stories are developed and shared across broadcast and digital platforms.
