About the Department
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of eight academic departments in the Bagley College of Engineering. The Department offers ABET-accredited undergraduate programs in ECE and graduate studies leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Programs are available at the Starkville, MS Gulf Coast, and Online campuses.
The Department comprises 614 undergraduates, 131 graduate students (70% Ph.D. seeking), 29 faculty members (including 6 endowed professorships and 4 IEEE Fellows), and 7 staff members. Faculty have developed a strong research program spanning computer systems, microelectronics, communications, electromagnetics, signal processing, machine learning, remote sensing, power, controls, high voltage, and engineering education. The Department houses the largest university-operated high voltage laboratory in North America.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, directs, and schedules operations and maintenance for Simrall building services.
- Oversees ordering, use, storage, and security of supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Ensures facilities are kept clean, presentable, and operational.
- Coordinates set-ups for events hosted by MSU departments, student organizations, and guests.
- Conducts site evaluations as required.
- Assists with Electrical and Computer Engineering inventory.
- Collaborates with internal and external departments/customers to coordinate set-ups, repairs, maintenance, and building closures.
- Designs, fabricates, assembles, and tests mechanical equipment and devices in the ECE Shop.
- Supervises, manages, and issues keys, access cards, and other items related to building access and security.
- Participates in development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, and short- and long-range planning.
- Develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishing established goals.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years' experience in facilities or building management.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
