About the role
The Transitional Housing Program (THP) in Orting, Washington, is seeking a full-time Program Assistant to support clients, particularly those with chronic mental health and substance use disorders, during non-traditional business hours. The position is expected to end on September 30, 2026, with potential extension until September 30, 2029.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site after-hours support to clients by assisting with inquiries, questions, and concerns.
- Interact with clients to provide encouragement and support in their treatment and case management plans.
- Coordinate recreational activities and individual client chores.
- Respond to emergency situations with tact, initiative, and good judgment.
- Perform security checks and confiscate contraband items.
- Assist with technical and clerical tasks and manage client room assignments.
- More duties as outlined in the Position Description.
Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED.
- Two (2) years of full-time clerical experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Proficient in English language.
- Ability to interact with difficult clients, maintain confidentiality, and solve problems.
- Basic skill level in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and web-based applications.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Preferred/Desired Experience
- Experience providing services to homeless individuals.
- Understanding of social services and healthcare programs available to Veterans.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Problem-solving and communication skills.
- Knowledge of DVA policies and procedures.
