Our team is excited to announce we are now accepting applications for Full-Time, Permanent Licensed Practical Nurse 2 positions at the Washington Veterans Home in scenic Port Orchard, Washington!
Responsibilities
- Prepare, carry out, evaluate, and revise treatment plans for individual residents based on personal observations and recommendations of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and/or other nurses.
- Administer medications, monitor treatments, assess resident condition (including skin assessment), and promote resident participation in recreational activities.
- Suction patients, administer oxygen, catheterization, irrigation; administer IV solutions, colostomy and trach care; maintain gastric feeding tubes and pumps.
- Process physician orders.
- Assist with routine rehabilitative and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Current Washington state practical nurse license or unencumbered practical nurse multistate license.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the English language and be able to read, write and speak English.
- Perform data entry; maintain confidentiality; provide a positive living environment for residents relating to meeting psychosocial needs; follow written and verbal directions; document and report observed changes in patient condition and behavior.
Special Requirements
- Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.
- Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and be capable of reaching a minimum of 36" using proper technique to stock shelves and access supplies.
- Must maintain a valid practical nursing license and provide from the State of Washington Department of Health.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and be willing to work as needed.
- Must successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service, and other required training.
- Must become familiar and comply with all DVA policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
- Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
