Duties
- Operate washing machines, dryers, marking machines, and presses.
- Weigh, shake, and sort out all soiled linen daily.
- Clean and disinfect laundry carts daily.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Report problems or malfunctions of laundry equipment to supervisor.
- Dry, hang, fold, and sort personal clothing for final distribution for designated areas.
- Collect, wash, dry, and deliver various materials to ancillary departments.
- Work with and help train new staff in operating laundry equipment and performing routine laundry tasks.
Qualifications
- Ability to make basic math calculations.
- Follow safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Must be proficient in the English language.
- Successfully complete training in laundry operations within six months of employment.

Special Requirements
- Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.
- Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards.
- Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and able to push and pull dirty and clean linen carts up to 450 lbs; must be capable of pushing/lifting/pulling with sufficient strength to accomplish tasks.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance, proper call-in, call-out, and be willing to work as needed.
- Must successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation, and all other mandatory, annual, in-service, and other required training.
- Must sign the confidentiality statement for all employees.
- Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
