About the role
The Washington Veterans Home is seeking a Clinical Nutrition Manager (Dietitian 2) to utilize their expertise in food and dietetics to enhance the quality of care for resident Veterans. This role requires 24 months of recent experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, preferably in long-term care settings.
Responsibilities
- Train staff and dietetic interns in specialty areas to meet facility and resident needs.
- Provide periodic training to nursing staff in current nutrition research and its application to nutrition and food service systems.
- Provide new employee orientation regarding basic nutrition support/principles.
- Train assigned personnel on nutrition policies and procedures to remain in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct disease-specific research to promote innovative nutrition approaches for resident care.
- Drive facility goals and objectives related to Executive Order 13-06 for resident benefit.
- Evaluate performance and complete professional development plans for assigned personnel.
- Identify and monitor residents at nutrition risk.

Qualifications
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition or dietetics meeting the educational standards of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Registration by the Commission of Dietetics Registration (RD/RDN).
- Must be proficient in the English language and able to read, write, and speak English.
Preferred/Desired
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with 24 months recent experience in long-term care.
- Experience with project planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Experience with Point Click Care and/or other Electronic Medical Record Programs.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diet planning, preparation, and serving of special diets, and sanitary methods of food handling.

Special Requirements
- Pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years.
- Comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.
- Maintain a valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit.
- Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.
