What You Will Do
- Manage workers’ compensation claims from investigation through resolution, including determining compensability, evaluating exposure and reserves, and negotiating settlements.
- Calculate and administer indemnity and medical benefits in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Cookordination with members, medical providers, vendors, and legal counsel to support return-to-work efforts, manage litigation, and resolve claims efficiently.
- Complete required filings and reporting, maintain accurate documentation, and provide guidance to program participants on claim processes and best practices.
What You Bring
- Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and claims management practices, including investigation, evaluation, and negotiation.
- Understanding of medical terminology, occupational health, and risk management principles.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document claim activity and produce reports.
- Familiarity with MMA Workers’ Compensation Fund programs and proficiency with relevant computer and claims systems, combined with strong organizational, prioritization, and relationship-building abilities.
Desired Experience and Training
- College degree in Business or a related field or equivalent combination of professional experience.
- Preferably one to three years’ experience handling workers' compensation claims or similar experience.
- Professional development, including AIC, ARM or CPCU desirable.
- A State of WC Maine Adjuster’s License within one year of hire.
