About the Role
The Wax Injection Technician performs all operations and operates equipment efficiently in making wax patterns. Production of high quantity and quality parts is required with daily production quotas established. The role involves working with various tools and materials such as glue, nail polishes, car wax, china markers, propane torches, hot needles, hot plates, exacto knives, and dental tools. The technician assists engineering in producing quality patterns and maintaining presses within specifications.
Responsibilities
- Handle hazardous waste in accordance with the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and company policy.
- Inject all wax patterns, gates, and sprues (light and heavy dies).
- Keep wax injection presses and melting pots filled with wax at all times.
- Clean plugs and check quality on all patterns, gating, and sprues.
- Follow procedures and perform duties as designated by the supervisor.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating professionally with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Keep work area clean, orderly, and in a safe working condition while following all safety rules.
- Run and supervise engineering trials, including wax parameters, pins, and cores.
- Perform wax press calibration checks and assist engineering in calibrating presses.
- Perform and record basic press inspections (seals, filters, oil, etc.).
- Ensure EP’s/SOP’s are correct and followed to reduce operator variability.
- Organize work area to optimize quality and throughput.
- Perform any additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an operator in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous casting experience is a plus.
- Experience with miscellaneous hand tools, tables, racks, boxes, safety guidelines, feeds, grinders, inspection tools, etc.
- Experience with general gaging/calibration, calipers, height stands, bridge gages, etc.
- Understanding of general principles of fluid dynamics, flow, pressure, and viscosity.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred and may be substituted by experience.
