WAVY Unpaid Digital Intern, Spring 2027

About the role

WAVY-TV 10/WVBT FOX43 is searching for a dynamic DIGITAL INTERN who wants to write for the web, produce multimedia stories about Hampton Roads, and assist in operating a dynamic website with regular updates as well as constantly emerging content. This position is available for the Spring 2027 semester only.

Responsibilities

• Write for the web
• Produce multimedia stories about Hampton Roads
• Assist in operating a dynamic website with regular updates and emerging content
• Create Facebook posts, Tweets, and promote coverage
• Learn the inner workings of a local newsroom and how departments support each other

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a college degree granting program
• Must show proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program
• Completed writing and editing courses
• Passion for telling local stories
• Willingness to learn the inner workings of a local newsroom

Skills

• Working knowledge of WordPress
• Working knowledge of CMS (content management systems)
• Working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter)
• Videography experience
• Adobe Premiere proficiency (preferred)

Schedule

12-15 hours per week on site. Ability to work a varying schedule Sunday through Saturday required; days and times will vary and be set in agreement with supervisor.

Pay

Unpaid; academic credit offered for the Spring 2027 semester only.
