Water Front Director Water Front Director Reports to: Camp Director Supervises: Counsellor/ Lifeguard Term Start: June 15th, 2026 Term End: August 28th, 2026 Wages: Total pay of $ 10,296 for the duration of the contract with the opportunity to earn up to $1,144 in bonus. Camp runs weekly Sunday to Friday. Additional Compensation: Accommodations for the duration of the summer and meals provided five days per week. Reimbursement of costs associated with the required credentials will be granted to the successful applicant. Overview Camp McDougall is seeking a dynamic and experienced Waterfront Director to lead all waterfront operations and contribute to the overall leadership of the camp, as part of the senior staff team. This role involves close collaboration with the Camp Director to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of camp, with a strong focus on safety, programming excellence, and camper well-being. The Waterfront Director will oversee all aquatic activities including swimming and canoeing, manage waterfront safety protocols, and maintain equipment and facilities. They will also serve as the primary first aider on site, ensuring staff are trained to recognize and respond to camper health needs. A dedicated Waterfront Counsellor will support daily waterfront programming under the Waterfront Director’s guidance. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Collaboration Work in partnership with the Camp Director and other senior staff to support the daily operations of camp. Provide mentorship and supervision to all Waterfront Counselors. Assist in staff training, particularly in waterfront safety and first aid protocols. Waterfront Management Ensure full compliance with Ontario Regulations 242/84 – Sec. 34 and Ontario Camps Association (OCA) standards for swimming and boating. Plan, implement, and oversee all waterfront programming including swim times, canoeing, and special aquatic events. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized waterfront area, conducting daily inspections and ensuring all equipment is accounted for and in good condition. Keep all waterfront rules and safety procedures current and clearly posted. Maintain a daily log of waterfront activities and incidents. Health & Safety Serve as the camp’s primary first aider, documenting and administering first aid as needed. Train staff on recognizing and responding to camper health concerns, including acute medical issues. Ensure emergency procedures are understood and practiced by all waterfront staff. Program Planning & Support Submit weekly waterfront activity plans, including supply and equipment lists, to the Program Committee prior to each camp week. Participate in general camp programming when not leading waterfront sessions. Requirements & Qualifications Prior camp experience in a leadership role Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work effectively with children, youth, and staff of all ages Experience in canoeing; Basic Canoeing Level 1 or higher preferred Current Certifications In National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Standard First Aid and CPR C Pleasure Craft Operator Card Operator Small Water Systems Course Minimum two years of lifeguarding experience, including direct waterfront supervision Current Vulnerable Sector Check (to be submitted one week prior to employment start) Must be over 18 years of age.
