About the role
This role serves as the firm's principal technical resource for process design, working alongside project managers, discipline leaders, and client-service teams to solve complex treatment challenges across Texas.
Responsibilities
- Providing technical leadership and quality oversight for complex water and wastewater treatment projects, including process planning, alternatives evaluation, treatment selection, design criteria, and process modeling.
- Serving as a trusted advisor to municipal clients and project teams on treatment-process decisions, regulatory considerations, resiliency, operational performance, and lifecycle value.
- Leading conceptual and technical reviews for significant or challenging projects and helping teams make sound decisions early, when they matter most.
- Staying actively engaged with new and proven treatment technologies, research, regulatory developments, and industry practices, then helping LAN and its clients adopt innovation thoughtfully.
- Setting a high bar for process-design quality, consistency, constructability, and practical operability across the firm.
- Recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineers who want to build expertise in water and wastewater process design.
- Prioritizing strategic pursuits, supporting proposals and interviews, and growing the firm's process-design capability in areas that align with community needs and your professional interests.
- Sharing expertise outside the firm through technical papers, conference presentations, client workshops, professional committees, and other visible contributions to the industry.
- Collaborating across disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, and construction-phase services, to deliver integrated solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, chemical, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- A Professional Engineer license, with the ability to obtain Texas licensure if not already licensed in Texas.
- Typically 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in water and wastewater treatment process design, planning, or operations support.
- Demonstrated technical depth in municipal water and/or wastewater treatment processes.
- Experience leading technical work, mentoring engineers, and communicating directly with clients.
- A record of involvement in professional organizations, technical committees, publications, or presentations is strongly preferred.
