About the role
We have an immediate opportunity for a Water / Wastewater Operator located in New Jersey. Under the direction of our Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of water / wastewater treatment plants and collection systems at multiple locations throughout New Jersey. This position will be based in our Toms River, NJ office.
Responsibilities
- Affirm the proper operation of water / wastewater treatment plants and collection systems in accordance with company policies and procedures and in conformance with the requirements of NJDEP.
- Perform the necessary monitoring required as part of the operation of the water / wastewater treatment plants and collection systems.
- Perform all necessary preventive maintenance on water / wastewater treatment plants and collection systems.
- Inspect daily and maintain the condition and appearance of all stations.
- Maintain all records pertaining to maintenance and treatment as required.
- Conduct sampling of the water distribution system and wastewater treatment plants and collection systems as needed.
- Drive long distances on a daily basis within the state.
- Be available nights and weekends to answer emergency service calls should they arise.
- May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and/or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant work experience as a Water/Wastewater Operator or related position.
- Absolutely required: Valid NJDEP Public Wastewater Collection System (C License), Public Wastewater Treatment System (S License) and Public Water Treatment System (T License).
- Candidates must possess a desire to work towards obtaining new/additional NJDEP operator licenses.
- Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- This position will require driving long distances on a daily basis within the state.
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- An associate's degree in Engineering Technology preferred but not required.
