Water/Wastewater Operations Specialist

Responsibilities

• Perform water / wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance.
• Operate and maintain water distribution systems (mains, valves, and hydrants).
• Operate and maintain sewer collection systems (pump stations).
• Respond to water and sewer emergencies.
• Perform water / wastewater sampling and monitoring.
• Perform laboratory analysis for water quality parameters.
• Keep accurate records.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required.
• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Possession of a Class D or higher Michigan Municipal wastewater certification is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written technical directions.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively with employees, customers, and the public.
• Ability to perform on-call and weekend rotations.
• Team player who is willing to pitch in.
