Water/Wastewater Maintenance Worker

About the Role

Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled general labor to assist with the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the water reclamation facility, wastewater collection system, and water distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs semi-skilled labor in the maintenance, construction, repair, and upkeep of the water reclamation facility, wastewater collection system, and water distribution system.
• Performs skilled and semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and manual labor work.
• Assists with the removal, installation, repair, and upkeep of pumps, motors, and a variety of equipment at the water reclamation facility, wastewater collection systems, and water distribution system.
• Performs routine maintenance and custodial duties; picks up debris, paints facilities, structures, and equipment, and makes minor and major maintenance repairs.
• Assists with the installation and maintenance of pumps, motors, and various equipment used at the water reclamation facility, wastewater collection system, and water distribution system.
• Inspects, cleans, and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year of related work experience.
• Possession of a valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License may be required for certain positions.
• Special technical certifications may be required for some work assignments.

• Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair methods and materials.
• Knowledge of safety standards and practices.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and rules involved in vehicle and equipment operation.
• Skill in safely and efficiently operating equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures.
• Skill in reading and interpreting maps, technical specifications, and operations manuals for vehicles and equipment.
• Skill in following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions.
