Water/Wastewater Infrastructure CAD Technician - Salt Lake City

About the role

The Water/Wastewater Practice at David Evans and Associates, Inc., is seeking a CAD Technician in Salt Lake City, UT. The ideal candidate will support utility relocation and water/wastewater infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Computer-aided drafting of water, wastewater, stormwater, and other underground utility (fiber, electric, gas, etc.) infrastructure elements and systems.
• Prepare detailed utility drawings and construction documents for heavy civil and municipal projects.
• Develop plans, sections, details, and schedules for underground piping, pump stations, concrete utility vaults, and other water/wastewater components.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and preparation of cost estimates.
• Coverage of project drawings marked up by the client and/or engineer.
• Create and manage electronic document file structures and naming conventions in accordance with company or client standards.
• Working closely with project managers, engineers, and other drafters to set up and manage construction drawings and design documentation.
• Create and/or modify base drawings, which may be used in a variety of presentation documents.
• Serving as a productive team member and proficient user of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and OpenRoads Designer to work on a typical set of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output that conforms to company standards.
• Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Closely following CAD standards from numerous agencies, clients, and engineering firms.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Computer Drafting, Civil Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with Bentley software – OpenRoads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work well under tight deadlines.
• Desire and willingness to work in a team-based environment that involves coordination with multiple design disciplines and offices.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with Microsoft applications.
• A minimum of 5 years of drafting experience.
