Water/Wastewater Engineering People Leader
About the role
The successful candidate will provide technical and operational leadership for the Mechanical Process Department in the Water Business Line, Chelmsford, MA office. This role will focus on providing technical guidance and developing guidelines for AECOM Mechanical Process Engineers worldwide. Operationally, the position will be responsible for managing the workload, monitoring budgets, and leading a team.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and operational leadership and mentoring to junior-level staff.
- Develop and maintain guidelines for mechanical process design.
- Lead the development of the level of effort required for project work.
- Monitor budget and progress towards completion of projects.
- Coordinate with vendors and participate in AECOM Technical Practice Groups (TPG).
- Research emerging technologies and develop technical specifications.
- Provide engineering services during construction for both design-bid-build and design-build projects.
- Participate in the design and renovation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and related infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in design and layout of mechanical process piping, valves, equipment, etc. within the water and wastewater industry.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain within six months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing technical and operations leadership and mentoring of junior-level staff.
- 15+ years of experience in design and layout of mechanical process piping, valves, equipment, etc. within the water and wastewater industry.
- Active participation in Hydraulic Institute (HI) Standards Committees.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and REVIT.

- Strong technical skills in mechanical process design.

- Knowledge of hydraulic institute standards.
