Responsibilities
- Well versed in engineering of linear infrastructure design projects or planning projects such as water, wastewater, and/or stormwater modeling and planning, CIP planning, and master planning.
- Facilitating the planning, design, and construction of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including the development and execution of budgets, schedules, contract obligations, and quality standards.
- Initiating and maintaining extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other organizations and companies.
- Determines program objectives and requirements and organizes programs and projects.
- Exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and selection of problems for investigation, and development of novel concepts and approaches.
- Responsible for budget, schedule, contractual obligations and quality standards.
- Directs several subordinate supervisors or team leaders.
- Trains and mentors internal staff.
- Plans and develops projects concerned with unique or controversial problems that have an important effect on major organization programs.
- Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
- Acting independently and making authoritative decisions on technical matters.
- Participates on team that prepares proposals, conducts interviews, and negotiates contracts with clients.
- Identifies and directs sub consultants performing services on projects.
- Active in professional associations, including presentation of technical papers, member of technical committee, officer of local or national organization.
- Moderate travel is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience (exclusive of any advanced degree).
- Registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Experience delivering water and wastewater treatment, wastewater collection systems, water transmission/distribution, pipeline rehabilitation, and/or pump station projects.
- Ability to deliver high quality services within budget and schedule constraints.
- Ability to evaluate progress of staff and results obtained, and recommend major changes to achieve overall objectives.
- Ability to communicate effectively with multiple clients and project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
- Planning experience.
- Design and construction phase experience.
