About the role

The Northeast Division is seeking a Water/Wastewater Associate Project Manager to join our team in Quincy or Woburn, MA, or Providence, RI. This hybrid role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in water or wastewater engineering and design, looking to expand into project management. Relocation assistance may be considered for candidates moving to New England.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Project Manager in planning, coordination, and execution of both large and small projects.
  • Works within prescribed budgets and monitors performance weekly.
  • Develops and negotiates scopes, fees, and schedules with sub-consultants under Project Manager guidance.
  • Applies engineering knowledge to develop technical solutions for complex projects.
  • Assists in developing and executing all aspects of the project scope of work.
  • Ensures compliance with project schedules and budgets, reporting progress and identifying out-of-scope work.
  • Gains project management experience by working closely with Project Managers.
  • Manages financial performance on tasks or projects under their control.
  • Serves as the Technical Lead for complex projects, coordinating among design disciplines and subcontractors.
  • Manages project budgets and staffing under Project Manager oversight.
  • Supervises and trains less experienced staff, providing daily guidance and input for annual reviews.
  • Develops technical approaches, schedules, and fee estimates for proposals on large-scale projects.
  • Maintains quality control by reviewing designs, calculations, assumptions, and basis of design.
  • Coordinates and attends client meetings, including public hearings, and prepares oral presentations.
  • Leads construction administration tasks such as progress meetings, submittal reviews, RFIs, change orders, and project closeout.
  • Provides updates to the Project Manager on construction progress and schedules.
  • Demonstrates awareness of corporate priorities, including quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Understands contract terms and conditions, advising the Project Manager of any professional liability concerns.
  • Participates in external associations, professional conferences, and authors or presents technical papers.
  • Identifies potential claims and prepares documentation for the Project Manager.
  • May manage direct reports, including workload, time/expense approval, and career development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • PE license or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
  • 5+ years of water or wastewater systems design experience in a professional services environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Strong technical writing skills.

Pay

Annual expected pay range: $90,000 – $125,000 USD.
