Water Truck Operator

Responsibilities

• Safely operate an articulated water truck in an underground mine to apply water for dust suppression and road conditioning
• Maintain proper moisture levels on haul roads, travel ways, loading areas, dumping points, and other designated areas
• Monitor roadway and ground conditions and report hazards such as ruts, potholes, standing water, or ground deterioration to supervision
• Identify, report, and document mechanical or safety concerns with equipment
• Refill water tanks and ensure spray systems, hoses, and nozzles are functioning properly
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other equipment operators using radio systems
• Follow all MSHA regulations, mine policies, traffic rules, and site-specific procedures
• Maintain situational awareness of employees and other mobile equipment in confined underground spaces
• Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Dedication to safe work practices
• Previous experience operating a articulated truck is preferred but not required
• Experience operating additional heavy equipment (dozer, water truck, loader, scaler, etc.) is strongly preferred but not required
• Ability to safely operate equipment in tight, low-clearance, underground environments
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Ability to perform general laborer and clean-up duties on the ground and in the plant as needed/directed
• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment
• Ability to climb on and off equipment using ladders, handrails, steps, etc.
• Able to push, pull, or lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs
• Able to work outside in all types of weather conditions to include hot, cold, dusty, noisy, and low-light underground conditions
• Able to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
• Able to work overtime and extended hours as needed
• Able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document
• Pass pre-employment drug screen

About the Role

Jefferson County Stone is an underground limestone mine/quarry seeking candidates to fill our need for an Underground Articulated Water Truck Operator in Louisville, KY. The water truck operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a motor grader in our underground mine. This position plays a critical role in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the underground haul roads, ensuring safe travel conditions for heavy mobile equipment and personnel.

Pay

This position offers a starting wage of $27.00/hr, which includes a base pay of $23.00/hr and an additional $4.00/hr for shift differential.

Schedule

The position is available on a 3rd Shift schedule from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
