Responsibilities
- Operate a designated water truck to support a variety of construction activities.
- Drive commercial vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) exceeding 26,000 lbs.
- Deliver water to construction sites for dust suppression, soil compaction, grading, and utility installation activities.
- Fill and distribute water using pumps, valves, and spray systems in a safe and efficient manner.
- Manage water loads to help prevent spills, equipment damage, and unsafe driving conditions.
- Travel on designated job site routes and public roadways while maintaining safe and efficient operations.
- Cookordination with project teams, including foremen, superintendents, and equipment operators, to meet daily water distribution needs.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any deficiencies.
- Adjust driving and water application methods based on changing weather and job site conditions.
- Keep the assigned vehicle clean, organized, and ready for daily operations.
- Perform routine vehicle care, including refueling, checking fluid levels, monitoring tire pressure, and identifying basic maintenance needs.
- Communicate mechanical concerns, safety observations, or operational issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, inspection records, and timekeeping documentation in accordance with DOT requirements.
- Follow applicable traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Work safely around personnel, heavy equipment, excavations, and active construction areas.
- Support a strong safety culture by following established safety practices and promoting safe work habits.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class A or B) required; Class A preferred based on equipment assignments.
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card) required.
- Previous experience operating water trucks or other commercial construction vehicles is preferred.
- Satisfactory driving record that meets company and insurance requirements.
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screenings in accordance with company policy.
- Experience operating and maneuvering large commercial vehicles in construction or other active work environments.
- Strong situational awareness and attention to detail while operating equipment.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including early mornings, overtime, and occasional Saturdays, as business needs require.
- Comfortable using GPS, two-way radios, and basic mobile technology for communication and navigation.
- Ability to interpret maps, job site directions, and project layouts.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with the team.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, teamwork, and producing quality work.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
- Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
- Work may be performed in confined spaces
- Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
- Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
- Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
- Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
- Majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
- Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
- Some Saturday work required; Sundays are rarely needed
