Water Treatment Plant Operator
About the role
An employee in this class performs a variety of operational, laboratory, and maintenance duties designed to produce safe treatment of potable water. Work includes monitoring the plant's operation through observation, mechanical readings, and the results of standard chemical and biological tests, and making necessary adjustments in the process as conditions or test results dictate. Other duties include performing standard laboratory duties and tests, assisting with plant and facilities maintenance, and substantial record keeping of work activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
- Ability to obtain North Carolina Water Operator's Grade C Certificate within 12 months of hire date
Preferably some experience working in a water or wastewater plant.
Schedule
Operation hours will be from 6:00 pm – 6:00 am. Every other weekend and some holidays are required. Schedule is 3 shifts one week, 4 shifts the following week.
