About the role
The City of Sparta is seeking a licensed Water Treatment Operator. In lieu of licensed candidates, the City will consider the placement of a trainee.
Responsibilities
- Operate water treatment facilities to ensure safe and reliable water supply
- Monitor and adjust chemical dosing systems to maintain water quality
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and facilities
- Document operations and maintenance activities in accordance with departmental procedures
- Respond to emergencies and incidents related to water treatment
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED
- A valid driver’s license
Qualifications
- Experience in water treatment operations is preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Skills
- Knowledge of water treatment processes and equipment
- Proficiency in operating water treatment plant equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals
