Water Treatment Maintenance Specialist Senior

About the role

The City of Aurora is seeking a Water Treatment Maintenance Specialist Senior to join its team. Aurora Water is responsible for the operation and maintenance of drinking water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems, among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintains inventory of parts and supplies
• Trains subordinate employees as appropriate
• Mixes and loads chemicals
• Maintains plant security
• Maintains O&M logs and records
• Performs janitorial, building, and grounds maintenance
• Assists with snow removal activities and snow standby call duties

Qualifications

• Experience: 2 years in water or wastewater treatment operation and maintenance experience
• Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree in water technology or water quality management
• Knowledge: Chemistry, biology, math, and hydrology; servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment; safety practices and requirements of a water treatment plant; personal computers and related software
• Skills: Skilled in the use of hand tools; strong interpersonal skills; skilled in the use of Windows-based programs; attention to detail; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to effectively direct a diverse workforce; ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate, and handle stressful situations in a positive manner; ability to perform mathematical calculations; ability to perform chemical analyses; ability to understand oral and written instructions; ability to instruct and train other employees; ability to read and comply with blueprints, diagrams, schematics, manuals, and specifications; ability to operate or receive training on various types of maintenance and construction equipment; ability to take part in Aurora Water’s Permit Required Confined Space Rescue Team

Benefits

The hiring range for this position is $32.79 - $40.98 per hour. The City of Aurora will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first come, first-serve basis; as soon as they determine to have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may close quickly and without notice.
