Water Senior On-Site Construction Manager

About the role

The Construction Manager will work closely with project managers and their project stakeholder teams in the implementation of construction engineering services on a variety of drinking water and wastewater (sewer) related projects. The Construction Manager is capable of serving as the primary liaison between client, contractor and design team.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret plans and effectively enforce the Contract Document requirements
  • Prepare comprehensive punch lists and monitor completion
  • Manage and resolve conflicts that may arise while on job site
  • Act as the Owner's agent when a disagreement arises between the contractor and design team
  • Obtain and maintain Iowa DOT Technical Training and Certification Program (TTCP)
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with all staff
  • Resolve conflicts that may arise while on job site
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form
  • Resolve conflicts that may arise while on job site

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred
  • Construction Engineering or Civil Engineering degree a plus
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years related experience, with specific wastewater and/or drinking water construction experience preferred

Skills

  • Knowledge of related construction materials and methods including water, sanitary, and storm utilities, paving and grading, wastewater and water treatment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents
  • Strong ability to multi-task
  • Familiarity with 10-States Standards for Water Works and Wastewater Facilities, and Iowa SUDAS Standards
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office experience
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of civil drawings, construction processes and construction codes
  • Experience with CAD, REVIT and other applicable design software a plus

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and full understanding of pay estimates, change orders and record drawings
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
