About the role

The position involves conducting all levels of swimming classes, organizing, conducting, and supervising aquatic programs, ensuring safe use of the pool, aquatic facility, and general safety of children, supervising pool patrons, enforcing swimming pool rules, responding to emergency situations, administering First Aid, CPR, and performing other lifesaving activities. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining and working safely with materials and equipment, maintaining accurate files and records, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise conduct of pool patrons
  • Enforce swimming pool rules and respond to emergency situations as required
  • Administer First Aid, CPR, and perform other lifesaving activities
  • Maintain and work safely with materials and equipment
  • Maintain accurate files and records
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or currently enrolled in high school
  • At least 16 years of age at the time of submitting application
  • Current and valid American Red Cross certificates: Lifeguard Training Certification, First Aid Certification, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification

Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must demonstrate knowledge of professional lifesaving standards, physical strength, endurance, and agility necessary to perform First Aid, CPR, AED, and other related lifesaving activities, ability to actively perform safety duties, the safeguarding of individuals, public and property, effective interaction with City staff, volunteers and the public, understanding and carrying out verbal and written instruction utilizing the English language, and bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Mandarin is highly desirable.

Pay

Hourly salary range: $21.70 - $22.59

Schedule

Flexible schedule between the hours of 7:00am - 10:00pm, each day of the week.
