Water Resources Senior Project Manager

About the role

Responsible for leading JMT’s high-dollar, complex projects to ensure high-quality delivery through quality, schedule, and budget. The Senior Project Manager will begin the project life cycle by identifying leads and marketing efforts on targeted areas of growth. The individual serves in a leadership role providing guidance and mentorship while ensuring project(s) continue to align with JMT’s organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Manages project(s) in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget
• Collaborates with disciplines and subconsultants to develop a risk-adverse project scope and fee
• Develops project-specific project plans, Project Management Plans, and quality management plans
• Creates and maintains project schedules
• Manages subconsultants
• Monitors and executes project progress, including identifying and mitigating risks, developing extra work order requests, and open-end contract task proposals
• Communicates project status, updates, and issues to internal and external stakeholders
• Participates in office’s project financial status meetings
• Builds relationships with client(s) to understand preferences and requirements to set up and execute a quality project
• Prepares progress reports and reviews invoices
• Develops and leads project status and presentations
• Assists Section Heads, Office Leaders, Regional Managers, and Practice Leaders with the marketing process, including SMART Go/No Go decisions, proposal development, interviews, and developing a win strategy
• Collaborates with Section Head and Office Leader on identifying leads and opportunities based on strategic goals
• Assists Section Head and Office Leader with developing strategic goals based on client's program information
• Develops and maintains a strong network of clients and other industry stakeholders
• Coordinates and guides all technical resources within the project team to ensure the delivery of a high-quality outcome
• Leverages advanced knowledge and experience with the client and project type to analyze the project, anticipate potential risks (such as overruns and scope changes), and implement effective mitigation strategies
• Implements strategies for project tracking and reporting by using project performance metrics to foresee and mitigate issues
• Provides coaching and mentorship to the project team through one-on-one check-in meetings and various project debriefs to acknowledge achievements, identify areas for improvement, and share lessons learned
• Leads and manages team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meetings, coaching) that supports the growth and development of the team
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
• Professional Engineering License
• 15+ years of experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Proficient in Bentley ORD and Autodesk Civil 3D
• Proficient in ICPR, SWMM, and HEC-RAS modeling software
• Proficient in ArcGIS
• Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
• Strong communication skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Business development experience

Preferred Qualifications

• ENV SP certification
• CAPM or PMP certification
• Experience with multiple project delivery methods (e.g., Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3)
• Experience managing multidiscipline project teams
• Experience with stream restoration projects
• Experience with water quality projects

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
