The Water Resources Lead Engineer – Renewables role at Ulteig specializes in water resources within our Energy Solutions Department. Ideal for professionals with a strong background in hydrology and hydraulic engineering, particularly those experienced in renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities

  • Apply current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete engineering tasks, and support other civil and structural design workflows as necessary on a case-by-case basis.
  • Work closely with and provide guidance to junior engineers.
  • Utilize advanced 2D modeling software such as HEC-RAS 2D, FLO-2D, and InfoWorks ICM to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
  • Conduct sediment transport analyses and scour calculations to ensure the integrity and sustainability of renewable energy projects.
  • Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports that are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound industry engineering practices.
  • Is technically involved with the resolution of design challenges that may include performing field investigation or observations and when necessary, resolving discrepancies between multiple sources of information.
  • Performs design and reviews of computations and calculations related to the stormwater management design of renewable projects.
  • Maintains a value engineering mindset throughout development, design, and construction.
  • Works closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines.
  • Works closely with clients to understand nuanced technical needs and identify the best feasible solution(s).
  • Supports marketing, sales and business development activities within assigned market.
  • Demonstrates a wide degree of out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and design ownership.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent is required.
  • Successful Completion of Civil Professional Engineer (PE) registration, NCEES Council Record is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10+ years of civil engineering experience, with at least 3-5+ years of experience in water resource design for renewable energy projects, strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic principles and methodologies related to rural and urban drainage.
  • Experience with erosion and sediment control applications in addition to temporary and permanent stormwater treatment techniques is highly desired.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex hydrologic and hydraulic data.
  • Experience in performing 2D sediment transport analyses and scour calculations in cohesive and non-cohesive soils is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in 2D modeling software such as HEC-RAS 2D, FLO-2D, and InfoWorks ICM, as well as ArcGIS software, is required.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in US.

Pay

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $126,400-$164,300*
