Water Resources Engineer II
About the role
RS&H is currently seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. This position will have the ability to work a hybrid schedule of in-office and remote.
Responsibilities
- Serve an integral role in the firm by providing professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of diverse projects;
- Develop and evaluate engineering reports, plans, and specification criteria;
- Coordinate with a diversified project team, including development of client communication, proposal coordination, marketing, presentations, and management of other discipline-related activities;
- Prepare specifications, scaled drawings and proposals and ensure finished plans, specifications, and approval of materials and construction;
- Meet with clients to determine objectives and requirements for executing desired scope;
- Review junior staff's work for technical accuracy and provide technical guidance to other professionals and technicians;
- Perform quality control reviews, field reviews, and observations of ongoing construction projects.
Requirements
- Minimum seven years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Professional engineer in good standing;
- Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances;
- Proficient in production software and construction document production;
- Proven ability to successfully address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound professional and business-like manner;
- Experience working on parts of major projects or multiple moderate-size projects and providing technical guidance to junior-level staff, including reviewing others' work for technical accuracy;
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, team members, and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program;
- Experience With The Following:
- Watershed delineation and determination of hydrological parameters;
- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using ICPR 4/Stormwise, MIKE-SHE, MIKE-11 or SWMM;
- Drainage Analysis and Design using Geopak Drainage, Subsurface Utilities Design and Analysis (SUDA) for Open Roads Designer (ORD), and/or ASAD;
- Plan production using Microstation SS10 with Geopak, and/or FDOTConnect for ORD;
- CADD (Microstation SS10, FDOTConnect for ORD, and/or Civil 3D);
- Preparing FDOT NexGen Plans per FDOT Design Manual (FDM) 900 Series;
- Preparing Estimated Quantities Report for quantifying drainage features in ORD;
- ArcGIS for water resources projects;
- Prior experience with FDOT D4 & D6 projects;
- Prior experience with Broward and/or Miami-Dade County projects;
- Preparation of environmental permit application packages;
- Plans, Specifications, and Estimates production;
- Experience with design-build and/or other alternative delivery projects;
- Experience working on parts of a major project or multiple moderate-sized projects.
