Water Resources Engineer

About the Role

This is a multi-disciplinary Water Resource Engineer position that requires strong knowledge of civil/environmental engineering practices and principles, along with an understanding and appreciation of biological and ecological science. The role offers substantial opportunities for collaboration with scientific disciplines as part of Stantec’s holistic Environment Services program. Flexible location options are available across New England, with Northampton, MA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct desktop and field studies supporting a broad spectrum of water resource engineering projects focused on assessment and design for aquatic habitat restoration, including:
  • Dam removal
  • Culvert replacement
  • Bridge hydraulics and scour
  • Flood risk assessment
  • Coastal resilience
  • Stream restoration and enhancement
• Write and prepare documentation and engineering design materials
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in civil or environmental engineering discipline
• 10+ years of experience with a focus on hydraulics and river mechanics
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; ability to obtain additional licenses in Massachusetts and other New England states within three months of hiring
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Drafting skills, including experience with AutoCAD software / Civil 3D
• Good understanding of mathematics and engineering mechanics
• Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge
• Experience performing fieldwork
• Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS
• Experience with surface water hydrology and hydraulics
• Experience working and recreating in and along waterways

Pay

• Various locations in ME, VA: $81,800.00 - $118,600.00 annually
• Locations in MN, OH, VT, and various CA, ME, NY, VA areas: $90,900.00 - $131,800.00 annually
• Locations in WA, DC, and various CA, MA, VA areas: $107,300.00 - $155,500.00 annually

Actual compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Part-time compensation will be pro-rated based on agreed working hours.
