About the role

GZA is expanding its water resources practice, focusing on hydrology and hydraulics, flood risk management, climate change adaptation, and dam/levee assessments. We are seeking a Project Manager (PM) or Technical Specialist (TS) to advance to Senior Project Manager (SPM) or Senior Technical Specialist (STS) levels.

Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with GZA’s Water team to complete projects
  • Conducting and reviewing hydrologic/hydraulic engineering analyses and calculations
  • Providing technical input for permit application packages
  • Communicating effectively with clients and team members
  • Preparing reports under principal guidance and review
  • Developing design drawings and technical specifications
  • Overseeing and documenting civil construction projects
  • Managing project schedules and budgets
  • Developing health and safety plans and ensuring compliance
  • Leading and mentoring junior engineers
  • Directly interacting with clients and managing on-site activities
  • Training staff and developing water resource services in regional offices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources Engineering, or related field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in MA preferred, with the ability to obtain licenses in CT, NY, and RI within two years
  • Minimum 6-10 years of experience in surface water hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Specific experience using HEC-RAS 2D
  • Knowledge of water control structures and permitting
  • Experience with design and development of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and bidding documents
  • Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Critical thinking and project management abilities
  • Experience with various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, HydroCAD, StormCAD, HY-8/CulvertMaster)
  • Proven experience with and directing staff with ArcGIS

Qualifications

  • Ability to think critically and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong project financial management skills
  • Proficiency in production support systems and computers
