Position Summary
The Water Regional Manager will provide strategic leadership for Tetra Tech’s North Texas Water practice, combining technical subject matter expertise with team leadership, project delivery oversight, and business development responsibilities to expand the firm’s presence in the region.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead the North Texas Water practice as both a regional leader and technical expert in water treatment or water/wastewater infrastructure.
- Manage, mentor, and develop project managers and technical staff to build a high-performing, collaborative team.
- Direct strategic and technically complex projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and innovation.
- Maintain and expand client relationships across municipalities, utilities, and regional partners; identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with operations leadership on planning, contract negotiations, financial performance, and regional growth strategy.
- Provide technical expertise for proposals, client presentations, and industry events to strengthen Tetra Tech’s market presence.
- Support recruitment and retention of top technical talent.
- Oversee project performance to ensure client satisfaction, technical excellence, and profitable delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or a related engineering field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in water/wastewater engineering, including technical depth in water treatment (membranes, PFAS, desalination, advanced treatment) or related infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience leading large, complex projects as a technical expert and project manager.
- Experience mentoring staff and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven track record in client development, proposal leadership, and delivery of profitable projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience delivering technical and business presentations.
- Ability to balance technical work with regional leadership and business development responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
- Established relationships with North Texas municipal or utility clients.
- Experience managing regional operations or business units.
- Participation in professional associations or industry leadership roles.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and field settings as project needs require.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and perform occasional site walks on uneven terrain.
- Ability to use standard office technology and participate in meetings, presentations, and occasional field reviews.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors
- Work may occur in a combination of office, client sites, and field environments.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather, construction sites, or treatment facilities.
- Moderate noise levels with required use of PPE in certain field or plant settings.
Additional Information
- Full-time, exempt position based in Plano or Dallas, TX.
- Travel within the North Texas region for client meetings and project oversight.
- Hybrid work flexibility may be available based on project needs and team requirements.
