About the Role

Maintain the training-scale water and wastewater treatment plants to ensure that they are operating in a manner that can be utilized to train the students in the one-year Water Quality Control Operations Program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare instructional materials to train pre-service and in-service water and wastewater operators on maintenance, electrical, instrumentation, and safety.
  • Instruct pre-service students and in-service water and wastewater operators on maintenance, electrical, instrumentation, and safety.
  • Cook up the IEPA water supply operator certification testing program. This includes the developing and writing of new exams, and providing IEPA with the results of the testing.

Requirements

  • Drinking Water Supply Operator Certification from IEPA
  • Wastewater Operator Certification from IEP
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance, electrical, and instrumentation used in the water and wastewater industry
  • Knowledgeable of safety and emergency procedures related to the water and wastewater industry
  • Knowledge of drinking water and wastewater operations
  • 1+ years generalized experience in the operations of water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License
  • Knowledge of MS WORD, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel
  • Previous teaching experience
