Basic Function
Under direction, on an assigned shift, maintains and operates a water plant and assists in the care and maintenance of plant equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs minor and standard laboratory tests as required
- Maintains levels of chemicals
- Flushes plant system
- Inspects and performs minor repairs and maintenance to plant equipment and related facilities
- Prepares various reports
- Maintains plant buildings and grounds
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Some knowledge of the methods, equipment, materials, and terminology used in the operation and care of plant equipment
- Ability to assist in the repair and overhaul of plant equipment
- Ability to read gauges and recording devices
- Ability to keep routine records
- Ability to use a wide variety of hand tools
- Ability to follow written and oral directions
- Knowledge of basic principles of chemistry
- Ability to make arithmetic calculations
Education and Experience
- Completion of high school or GED required
- Associates degree preferred
- One year of experience in operation and maintenance of a water plant or system required
Special Requirements
- A current Kansas drivers license
- Certification as a Kansas Class I or II Water Treatment Operator
- Compliance with state mandated continuing education requirements
- Must be available to work nights, in shifts, overtime, and weekends
Physical Requirements
- Intense physical effort is required
- Individual must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, grasp, speak, and listen for extended periods of time
- Working Conditions involve some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions
SALARY RANGE
The salary range for this position is $19.05 to $27.62 per hour Plus Benefits, Depending On Experience.
