About the role
The role involves coordinating 24-hour plant operations, maintaining and operating a water treatment plant, and supervising personnel.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate plant operations according to federal and state requirements and departmental procedures.
- Inspect plant and monitor water treatment process, correcting deficiencies.
- Respond to emergencies and implement remedial actions.
- Directly supervise tasks such as installing pumps and changing plant processes.
- Regulate chemical dosages, check water quality, and manage inventories.
- Prepare daily activity reports and logs, and submit administrative reports.
- Schedule, assign, and review operational activities.
- Train, motivate, and maintain harmony among staff.
- Interview applicants, recommend hiring, termination, and disciplinary actions.
Requirements
- A High School diploma, GED, or higher.
- Five (5) years of experience in water treatment plant operations and maintenance, including two (2) years in a lead capacity.
- A Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
- A Class "B" Water Certificate of Competency issued by TCEQ.
Qualifications
- Experience with water treatment and sampling chemistry.
- Experience analyzing laboratory results and instrument readings.
- Experience with water treatment plant operation practices and procedures.
- Experience repairing and maintaining plant equipment, machinery, facilities, and grounds.
Skills
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws regarding chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Proficiency in computer hardware, software, and peripherals for record-keeping and database management.
- Compliance with safe working practices and procedures.
- Supervisory techniques, standards, and conduct.
