Water Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water treatment, distribution, and wastewater collection systems
• Monitor system performance, adjust chemical feeds, and perform routine testing
• Inspect, repair, and maintain pumps, motors, valves, hydrants, and related equipment
• Respond to customer complaints and emergency calls
• Maintain accurate records of system operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Mississippi Class III Water Operator license or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
• Valid Mississippi Class III Wastewater Operator license or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire
• Valid Mississippi Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds
• Reliable transportation and willingness to respond to after-hours emergencies
