About the role
Water Operator
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain water treatment, distribution, and wastewater collection systems
- Monitor system performance, adjust chemical feeds, and perform routine testing
- Inspect, repair, and maintain pumps, motors, valves, hydrants, and related equipment
- Respond to customer complaints and emergency calls
- Maintain accurate records of system operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Mississippi Class III Water Operator license or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
- Valid Mississippi Class III Wastewater Operator license or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire
- Valid Mississippi Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds
- Reliable transportation and willingness to respond to after-hours emergencies
