WATER MITIGATION APPRENTICE

About the role

A structured 12‑month, on‑the‑job apprenticeship (approximately 2,000 field hours) that takes someone with no restoration background to a fully certified Water Mitigation Technician. You will work alongside senior technicians on live emergency water losses from day one, earn IICRC certifications at the company’s expense, and progress through defined wage steps as you reach milestones.

Responsibilities

• Months 0‑3: Ride‑along and assist; learn safety, PPE, equipment identification, extraction, and setup under direct supervision; pass the Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certification.
• Months 3‑6: Run setups on straightforward Category 1 and 2 losses with periodic check‑ins; own daily monitoring routes; produce accurate moisture logs without correction.
• Months 6‑9: Lead a small job from start to finish, including customer walkthrough and scope documentation; take on‑call rotation independently; pass the Applied Structural Drying (ASD) certification.
• Months 9‑12: Handle Category 3 losses, build containment, and mentor newer apprentices; produce documentation clean enough to submit to the carrier without rework.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record
• Able to pass background check and pre‑employment drug screen
• Able to lift and carry 50–75 lbs repeatedly, climb ladders, work in crawlspaces, attics, and confined spaces, and stand/kneel/bend for full shifts
• Must be clean‑shaven at the sealing surface when respirator use is required (OSHA tight‑fitting respirator rule)
• Comfortable working in wet, hot, cold, and contaminated environments in full PPE
• Smartphone‑capable — the job runs on photo and data documentation
• Reliable transportation to the shop
• No experience required; construction, plumbing, HVAC, landscaping, kitchen, or military background is a plus

Pay

Full‑time hourly position starting at $19 per hour; by the end of the first year you will be making $26 per hour.
