WATER MITIGATION APPRENTICE

This is a structured 12‑month, on‑the‑job apprenticeship (~2,000 field hours) that takes someone with no restoration background to a fully certified Water Mitigation Technician. You will work alongside senior technicians on live emergency water losses from day one, earn IICRC certifications on the company’s dime, and advance through defined wage steps as you hit milestones.

About the role

The apprenticeship is a full‑time hourly position that starts at $19 /hr and progresses to $26 /hr by the end of the first year. You will gain hands‑on experience in water mitigation, from ride‑alongs and basic extractions to leading jobs and mentoring newer apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Months 0–3: Ride‑along and assist with safety, PPE, equipment identification, extraction, and setup under direct supervision. Pass the Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certification.
• Months 3–6: Run setups on straightforward Category 1 and 2 losses with periodic check‑ins. Own daily monitoring routes and produce accurate moisture logs without correction.
• Months 6–9: Lead a small job from start to finish, including customer walkthrough and scope documentation. Participate in on‑call rotation independently. Pass the Applied Skills Development (ASD) certification.
• Months 9–12: Handle Category 3 losses, build containment, and mentor newer apprentices. Produce documentation clean enough to submit to carriers without rework.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and pre‑employment drug screen.
• Physical ability to lift and carry 50–75 lb repeatedly, climb ladders, work in crawlspaces, attics, and confined spaces, and stand/kneel/bend for full shifts.
• Must be clean‑shaven at the sealing surface when respirator use is required (OSHA tight‑fitting respirator rule).
• Comfortable working in wet, hot, cold, and contaminated environments in full PPE.
• Smartphone‑capable for photo and data documentation.
• Reliable transportation to the shop.
• No prior experience required; construction, plumbing, HVAC, landscaping, kitchen, or military background is a plus.

Compensation

Hourly wage starts at $19.00 per hour and increases to $26.00 per hour by the end of the first year.
