About the role
The Water Fitness Instructor 1 will provide safe aquatics wellness to patrons. This position requires knowledge, skills, and abilities in reading, writing, and speaking English, as well as safe aquatics practices.
Responsibilities
- Teach aquatics exercise programs.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for all participants.
- Respond to emergency situations and administer CPR/First Aid if necessary.
- Prepare and submit accident/incident reports.
- Participate in in-service training, orientations, and other staff meetings as requested.
Requirements
- Read, write, and speak English to express ideas and communicate effectively.
- Have knowledge of safe aquatics practices.
- Be able to use aquatic equipment and cleaning supplies.
- Teach aquatic exercise programs in deep and shallow water.
- Multi-task and follow instructions to complete tasks in a safe and effective manner.
- Interact with individuals using generally accepted business behaviors and standards.
- Use interpersonal skills to deal effectively with others in favorable and unfavorable situations.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Some experience in Customer Service and Aquatics Cleanliness.
- A First Aid/CPR/AED certification is required.
- A Lifeguard Training certification is preferred, from American Red Cross or Ellis & Associates.
- Swim lesson instruction and water exercise instruction are strongly preferred.
