Water Fitness Instructor - Abingdon (Ward)

About the role

As a Water Fitness instructor for the Y in Central Maryland, you'll be an important part of a mission-driven, charitable organization that helps children, adults, families, and communities achieve more in all aspects of life.

Responsibilities

• Hold and maintain an active Water Fitness teaching certification and provide quality instruction and supervision to Y members and participants by teaching safe and challenging classes that promote total fitness development and support a greater sense of well-being.
• Teach or sub at one of our 11 different locations.
• Create a fun, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere that promotes group interaction, exercise, and a sense of belonging.
• Contribute to the Y and to the broader community we serve by creating experiences that help people feel a greater sense of health and well-being, purpose, acceptance, and belonging.

Requirements

• A love of fitness and people.
• A desire to help & encourage others to have fun with fitness.
• The ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• The ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• All Y associates agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth that sets clear expectations for associates and volunteers to ensure a safe and respectful environment for young people.
• The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment.
• Associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.

Skills

• Aqua Fitness Professional certification from AEA.
• Aqua Instructor certification from AAAI/ISMA.
