Responsibilities
- Repair, maintain, and test water mains, valves, and fire hydrants.
- Perform excavations and backfills, and install temporary pavement repairs.
- Locate water mains, service lines, and valves using pipeline location instruments and metal detectors.
- Operate various heavy equipment and assist with maintenance of pump station equipment and water meters.
- Landscape and restore lawns to their original condition.
- Work in extreme weather conditions, exposure to hot material, hazardous materials, dust, and allergens.
Requirements
- A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), preferred.
- Knowledge of materials and experience with methods and equipment used in repair and replacement of water mains, valves, and fire hydrants.
- Ability to operate a variety of heavy machinery and equipment used in the repair and replacement of water mains, valves, and fire hydrants.
- Use GIS mapping tools and follow oral and written instructions.
- Enter and exit excavations safely by using a ladder.
- Comply with all safety policies and requirements in the workplace.
- Be available and willing to work unscheduled and scheduled overtime when necessary.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in water utility maintenance is preferred but not required. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Schedule
A typical day in our water department starts at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m., with the possibility of unscheduled and scheduled overtime.
